N. Ramachandran's work at VARICOLORED (Artchutney.com's group show of paintings & sculptures): Begins 5th July, 2013

Acclaimed artist N. Ramachandran's art 'Untitled (re-mix)' will be on display at 'Varicolored', Artchutney.com's next group show.

The artist on his work:

"Mind celebrates events, things, experiences... celebration takes many manifestations...

In Indian culture, human body is celebrated in various ways. Silparatna/ Silpasastra celebrates human’s form for it's dimension, Natyasastra celebrates human body for it's movement and so on...

These works are a product of the ‘visual celebration’ of our culture, aesthetics, time, and technology in a contemporary context.

I had made use of some illustrations/ text of icons from the Silpasastra where the aesthetics and dimensions of the human body are dealt in depth and detail. And also have used cool club-remix design, newspapers, flashy florescent colours and gold to represent the present time I am in. The florescent colours at the sides of the work is deliberately done to highlight/ connect to the context of the ‘aura’ of the content."

N. Ramachandran's work will be on display at Artchutney.com's next group show which begins 5th July, 2013 at Taj West End/ Bengaluru.

Thota Tharani is a Padma Shri awardee, an artist, and South India`s most sought-after Art Director and has dabbled in acting as well. He usually works with ink and paper, but has experimented with calligraphy as a form of creative expression also.

For me every award means more involvement in what I am doing. And an honour like this (the Padma Shri) is a bit scary only because it places a huge responsibility on you. You have to live up to it and you need to do something more, something extra in each and every project,`` says the man who has won the best art director`s award in three states, The Rajath Kamal (national award) twice, a Filmfare award, a Cinema Express award and the Kalaimamani award.

Thota Tharani has held and participated in numerous exhibitions in India and abroad - in Paris, Bordeaux, Vienna and in Yugoslavia and Germany. His works were shown at Kanagawa International Print Exhibition (1983); at the III & IV Mini Prints Biennale, Barcelona (1983 & 1984).Tharani seems very satisfied with the way he has been working so far - films by day and painting at night - and plans to continue in the same fashion. The overall appearance of his finished works yields a certain kind of veiled and misty effect that is often pale and relatively monochromatic. The artist never uses bright and contrasting colors. The hues are always minimised. What is most unique is the treatment of tints, shades and gradations. The figures and forms seem to appear and disappear from within the shades of surrounding spaces. The best way to describe the technique is through the term painterliness. One may also point out the intermittent and liberal use of chiaroscuro in Avijit’s compositions that is the effects of light and the formation of gradual organic shadows leaving no traces of lines in between.
