Avijit Dutta's work at VARICOLORED (Artchutney.com's group show of paintings & sculptures): Begins 5th July, 2013

Avijit Dutta received his Bachelor of Visual Art in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta, in 2001. He was awarded the Best Watercolourist title by the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata between 1996 and 1997. The overall appearance of his finished works yields a certain kind of veiled and misty effect that is often pale and relatively monochromatic. The artist never uses bright and contrasting colors. The hues are always minimised. What is most unique is the treatment of tints, shades and gradations. The figures and forms seem to appear and disappear from within the shades of surrounding spaces. The best way to describe the technique is through the term painterliness. One may also point out the intermittent and liberal use of chiaroscuro in Avijit’s compositions that is the effects of light and the formation of gradual organic shadows leaving no traces of lines in between.

Avijit Dutta's work will be on display at Artchutney.com's next group show which begins 5th July, 2013 at Taj West End/ Bengaluru.
